A new phone is launching on September 12th. It’ll have a similar touchscreen to the other phones out there. A similar camera. A similar speaker, a similar shape, a similar design, and a similar storage capacity. Why will we care about this phone more than any other similar phone? The answer is hype.

We spend a ridiculous amount of time in our lives saying “no.” We say no to that which we don’t understand, we say no to that which we believe will drag us down, or waste our time, or get us in trouble. What opportunities would we find if we said yes a little more?

With this week’s big announcement that Vocus is acquiring iContact, I think it’s time to revisit the four ways to be hated because of your email marketing. There are a lot more, but follow these rules, and you’re off to a really good start. Remember – I’m the guy who created a company that sends out 3.4 million double-opt-in, non-spam emails each month… So I kinda know what I’m talking about…

When we have the power to be mobile, we have freedom. We don’t need to be in our offices, or at a desk. We can create, explore, produce, engage, and yes, make money, from wherever we are. That, my friends, is true freedom. While no one would deny that the sushi that comes from the pockets of investors tastes fresher than the kind we pick up from the take-out place on the way home, lest we forget, the food poisoning we get at 3am is a lot worse from the former than the latter. With that said, may I suggest a review of the top four ways to make sure you’re not running your company into the annals of history, to be mocked in the near-future as the next “theglobe.com.”
