Need to attract new customers and grow sales? Active social media use is one of the best ways to reach prospective customers.
More than half of Americans now have a social media profile, including 55% of adults between the ages of 45 and 54.
Though prospects are out there, successfully connecting with them takes effort and, perhaps more importantly, a carefully executed strategy.
Here are five tips for getting better results and attracting more customers.
1. Build a social media schedule
Posting to Facebook once and tweeting several times daily plus writing a few LinkedIn posts each week is ideal for interacting with customers and building SEO. But you don’t have to start there. Build up to that schedule, so as not to overwhelm yourself at the start.
2. Be casual
Social media is more about making connections and showing off your personality than doing business. Loosen your collar and let what makes you and your business unique shine through. Drop the jargon and attempt to provide prospective customers “authentic helpfulness”.
3. Show your expertise
As a business owner, you have knowledge and insights about your industry that others crave. Use monitoring tools to find and join conversations on social media. Publishing posts or initiating conversations about industry best practices and other valuable content on LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook will also establish you as an industry influencer.
4. Reach out to social media influencers
Interacting with your industry’s most-influential social media users elevates your brand’s prestige and provides an influx of followers. Simply send the influencer a message or tweet. The virtual introduction could result in them reposting content, exposing you to their followers.
Take it a step further by sending the influencer your product. If they like it, they’ll tweet about it, giving the
product exposure and credibility.
5. Share pictures
Pictures dominate social media. On Facebook, photos and video get twice the engagement of text posts. On Twitter, 36 percent of the links shared are for images. It’s taken Pinterest only a year to grow from 1 million users to more than 20 million.
Take photos of products or something else that captures the essence of your business. Perhaps try connecting your business to pop culture, such as a movie’s upcoming release.
