Based in Haiti, Allyn Gaestel is a contributor to The Next American City. She also works as a freelance journalist. She covers human rights, politics, public health, women’s issues and development in Haiti, South Asia and West Africa. In the past, she worked as a correspondent for MediaGlobal, a staff writer for Paradigm Shift and an editor for the Center for Peace and Global Citizenship.
Gaestel received bachelor’s degrees in political science and French from Haverford College.
